Students

The opportunities in IT are structured as 6 month (40hrs/week) Co-op positions available: January-June or June-December. All of these positions are located in St. Louis, MO. with the exception of one position located in Luling, LA. This co-op program offers Tuition Reimbursement for 1 course during your term.  We interview on campus and/or interview at Monsanto during our interview blitz that will take place early November each year.  Offers will be made by Thanksgiving.

Opportunities exist in these main areas:

Application Developer Co-op

We have opportunities in a group that develops and supports technology solutions for the Monsanto US Commercial organization and is responsible for the development and support of several web-based applications and services used by our business partners and customers throughout the U.S. A successful candidate will work with the Application Development team in the analysis, design, and development of enterprise level web applications such as MyMonsanto.com that are crucial to the success of Monsanto’s commercial strategies and providing quality service to our customers. The Commercial IT teams work very closely with the business to develop solutions that enable Monsanto and its customers to be successful and grow the business.

The candidate will possess technical expertise necessary to design and develop enterprise-class software.  Primary responsibilities will include development, unit testing, and acceptance testing of software components. The candidate must have excellent communication skills for daily, direct interaction with technical leads, business analysts, software testers, architecture team members and other programming staff.  Secondary responsibilities include participating in planning meetings, design reviews, code reviews and other project-related meetings.

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Co-op

We have a variety of ERP-related roles available for coop students.  Positions available include:

SAP Solution Manager / Business Analyst:  Drive improvements and enhancements via Solution Manager's functionality to enable teams in blueprinting, testing, and training efforts for Global IT projects.  Desire strong initiative, fast learner, ERP/SAP exposure.

SAP Basis Administrator:  Provide technical/administrative support for the SAP landscape including performance monitoring, resolution, and other activities related to maintain system integrity.  Review SAP OSS notes or messages to help resolve impacting issues to Monsanto systems. Apply transports and manual changes to all environments for standard or custom ABAP and/or Java changes.  Maintain the daily system and security logs for the ECC, CRM, and BW ABAP systems, as required by the Sarbanes-Oxley act. Offer valuable solutions to help deliver change to the Basis team while developing skills in relationships and networking, initiative and foresight, and results orientation.

Infrastructure Co-op

These positions include support, applications, and solutions planning and engineering.   Infrastructure co-ops are expected to resolve routine to moderately complex administrative and support issues, ensuring user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, and participating in Problem and Change management processes.  The roles also includes learning how to ensure that service levels for network, hardware, and/or operating systems are met, and that day-to-day operational impacts are minimized.  This position will assist other team members in their day-to-day tasks as they work to provide Monsanto 24x7 system availability.  These positions require a high degree of teamwork.  The ideal candidate will have a strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn about Infrastructure support.  They will need to be an energetic, self motivated individual who enjoys working in a collaborative team environment.  They must be committed to Customer Service.

Operations Research Co-op

The Operations Research Co-op will work on an OR team to identify operational and process improvements in a large R&D pipeline through the formulation of models and the identification of optimal solutions. Theoretical and practical experience in mathematical and constraint programming modeling as well as algorithm development is a requirement. Research emphasis on planning and scheduling is highly desirable. Proficiency in current commercial and academic mathematical programming and optimization modeling languages and solvers is an important skill, as are strong computing skills in an object-oriented programming language. Experience with the CPLEX/CP Optimizer toolset of ILOG is particularly desired.

Scientific Business Analyst

The Scientific Business Analyst Co-op will work on a team to help develop, translate, and prioritize systems solutions for incorporation into software used by our Research and Development (Technology) organizations. This position will work in a liaison relationship with our multi-functional, multi-crop Technology organization, our research labs, and our information technology organization. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to successfully partner with the Technology organizations to understand the opportunities, identify systems solutions, and define requirements for software platform development. In addition, the candidate must successfully interact with software developers, technical architects, business analysts, testers and support personnel to develop, deploy and support these solutions.

Strategic Scientist Co-op

The Strategic Scientist Co-op will work on a team to help develop data analysis and research strategies for discovery projects in the Breeding and Biotechnology platforms. This involves integrating Breeding and Biotechnology pipelines through critical analysis of scientific trends in the business units in order to propose and develop scientifically sound novel approaches for scientific solutions. The Strategic Scientist Co-op will help to identify changes in state-of-the-art scientific technology in order to propose R&D software solutions to accommodate the latest trends in data quantity and quality. In addition, the co-op will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary scientists internal and external to Monsanto by addressing emerging changes in analytical scientific breakthroughs. The successful candidate will help to design and test algorithms and prototypes to analyze genomic and experimental data leveraging computational and statistical techniques for the development of novel approaches for high-throughput data analysis.
