Where We Work
Research and education are at the heart of what we do. We have hundreds of facilities around the globe dedicated to supporting our work, including fields, labs, research centers and offices. And many of our sales employees take to the road to help bring local farmers a custom mix of products and services to support them and help their fields thrive.
Here are just a few places where we work to help bring a broad range of agricultural solutions to farmers.
Chesterfield, MO
Situated on more than 220 acres of land, Monsanto’s research campus, which offers group tours, has more than two acres of rooftop greenhouses, over 100 climate-controlled growth chambers, and dozens of specialized laboratories. This campus hosted more than 19,000 visitors last year from over 60 countries.
Maui, HI
Hawaii’s unique climate allows for three to four growing seasons a year, reducing the time it takes us to develop new products. Our island roots go back more than 45 years. Learn more at Monsantohawaii.com.
Woodland, CA
Our vegetable seed research headquarters is where breeders and researchers come together to discover vegetable traits and develop new varieties. The lab at Woodland is the largest of its kind in the world for vegetable seed health testing.
Monmouth, IL
The Monsanto Learning Center is a 480-acre research farm with classroom training, research labs and plot tours. In addition to working directly with farmers, we also provide community education and aid for organizations fighting rural hunger.
Ankeny, IA
Our state-of-the-art seed research facility utilizes a “chipper” that can take a small chip out of a seed without affecting its ability to grow. This sample allows us to know the exact DNA makeup of a seed before it’s planted, greatly speeding up the breeding process.
Gothenburg, NE
Our focus at the Water Utilization Learning Center is helping farmers produce their desired harvests using water more efficiently. The site includes a Rainout Shelter, a retractable cover that helps growers understand the links among soil, water, irrigation and yield.
