A GM potato recently got approval, a GM animal (salmon) and apple are seeking approval. At what point should GMO labels become a mandate?

Hi Connie,

We support a voluntary GMO labeling system,
which enables consumers interested in avoiding foods with GMO ingredients to do
so by choosing foods labeled "GMO free." We believe mandatory labeling
of food products could mislead shoppers in the grocery store to
believe there are dietary or nutritional differences between labeled
and non-labeled products, when, in fact, there is no such difference. We think the FDA, as the leading U.S.
authority on food safety, is best positioned to address and determine U.S. food
labeling policy and standards and the associated requirements.
