This week, hundreds of people descend on Iowa to celebrate the World Food Prize. There’s a special connection to this year’s event for Monsanto, as Dr. Robert T. Fraley, Monsanto executive vice president and chief technology officer, will be named a World Food Prize Laureate.

Fraley was named one of three recipients of the World Food Prize—agriculture and food security’s most prestigious recognition—for his and his team’s research in plant biotechnology and its contributions to crop improvements. Additional recipients of the award include Dr. Mary-Dell Chilton, Founder and Distinguished Fellow at Syngenta Biotechnology, and Marc Van Montagu, Founder and Chairman of the Institute of Plant Biotechnology Outreach at Ghent University in Belgium.

Our web and social media teams will be in Iowa this week to cover Fraley’s speeches and the World Food Prize events. We will have articles on www.monsanto.com; live-tweeting of events on Monsanto’s Twitter account, @MonsantoCo; and posts and images from the events on our Facebook page, Monsanto Company.

We hope you follow along and engage in the conversation.
