Toys for Tots

“Monsanto has been supporting Toys for Tots for more than 15 years. It’s an important part of Monsanto’s philanthropic efforts because of the effect it has on the St. Louis community,” said Tom Butler, Selectives Chemistry Manager and VANGUARD talent acquisition lead. "Toys for Tots" is a program to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters. VANGUARD business resource network members lead the toys and food drive every year at multiple Monsanto locations.

H.E.R.O.E.S CARE Freedoms Golf Tournament

The mission of H.E.R.O.E.S. Care is to provide service members, veterans, and their families care and support before, during and after deployment in the communities where they live. Since 2003, we have provided material, financial and other support for more than 100,000 military families.

Hosted by the H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, Freedoms Golf Tournament formerly known as Boots on the Green started 6 years ago with 36 golfers and has developed into a program that now serves hundreds each year. Monsanto has been a proud sponsor of the event for the last 4 years. For the past six years, an average of 96 cents of every dollar received has been returned to military families in program services. Few charities are as effective at financial and material stewardship.

Greater St Louis Honor Flight (GSLHF)

Each month Monsanto VANGUARD members support GSLHF through volunteerism at the Welcome Home event raising money for the organization by selling raffle tickets, GSLHF branded merchandise and providing flag holders for the sea of flags. More than 40 volunteers from Monsanto’s IT department joined forces with eight Washington University in St. Louis students (in an event called Codefest) to build a cloud based web application to benefit the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. Network members donated over 600 hours of time to begin work on the systems to automate online entry for veterans, guardians and volunteers; streamline processes for flight scheduling; and, in managing donor and volunteer information.
